Detroit, Michigan based trumpet player Lin Rountree has just released his seventh album on Trippin 'N' Rhythm Records. Fluid (2021) is, despite or perhaps because of the limitations of the pandemic, an all-around successful work with the participation of numerous musicians.

For a complete listing of those involved in the production and performing, see Credits. Lin relies on the well-known producers like Michael Broening, Chris “Big Dog” Davis, Matt Godina, and more.

The album opens with a shining piece composed by Michael Broening simply titled Release. A pleasant and well crafted trumpet melody right up your alley. Fluid has some influence from Herb Alpert's late work offering an organic flow covering the beloved melodic ground.

Candie's Dance embraces the Urban smooth jazz style with hand-clapping support and swaying melody influx. FuSion has nothing with jazz fusion in common. The contemporary resolution is rather anchored in smooth jazz. Me For Me is by no means to be understood egocentrically. Lindsey Webster is very quick to explain vocally that it has to do with the typical two-person relationship.

Don't await the dessert when it comes to Chocolate. If one did not know better, one could assign the piece to the group War. Lin Rountree gives true meaning to the word Koolin. Isn't the trumpet the most suitable instrument of coolness? If you're looking for cruise relaxation, you'll find it at Amazing Love.

With You gives us the sound experience Selina Albright, who never ceases to amaze with her vocal range. Final tune of the album is Dream featuring David P. Stevens on guitar leaving a lasting impression.

In the face of strong competition in the smooth jazz genre, Lin Rountree's album Fluid has shown that his new project is winning over audiences with fire and prowess.
