Shuffle the music of Paul Hardcastle's The Jazzmasters and Kim Waters' Streetwize series and you get the sound of Kool&Klean. Creator of these popular series is saxophonist Konstantin Klashtorni. Born in the small town of Korosten in Ukraine he graduated at the R. Glier Kiev Institute of Music. On the search after the perfect sound he traveled the world. Venezuela, South America, the Netherlands and finally Germany were on his agenda.

He counts Eric Marienthal, David Sanborn, Kirk Whalum, Gerald Albright, Kenny Garrett,  Brian Culbertson and Paul Hardcastle to his influences. Under his own name he released the albums Downtown (2004), Led By You (2006), Smoothing (2009), Smooth Jazz I (2010) and Smooth Jazz II (2011). Like Kim Waters he releases the series Kool&Klean and the chillaxing jazz collection Groove Jazz N Chill furthermore Piano Night (2013) and Guitar Night (2014). He also performed with the formation Camiel (Sunset and On A Day Like This).

His newest project of Kool&Klean is Volume VI (2016). Attracting the audience one finds on all covers gorgeous models as a visual link and trademarks. Konstantin has written, performed and produced all tracks.

The album has an atmospheric start with Worth. Fine voluminous keyboard sounds melt softly with Konstantin's tenor sax. The melody is fairly shared between both instrumental groups. On Flawless he changes between various keyboard sounds like electronic guitar, trumpet and more. Waves and hall are strong elements of style and give the whole a spatial structure.

Live From Your Heart gives the feeling a sonic monument. Gently constructed the melody focuses on soothing sounds. The title Touch The Sky recalls Hardcastle's Kiss The Sky but Klashtorni confines to purely instrumental music. A vocal aeration of the instrumental structure would be an asset. The Hills forms a dense braiding of repeating melodic structures. Hardcastle's music has a full impact on Feeling Good. Klashtorni's affinity is undeniable.

Feel The Light has a captivating melody which brings back memories to Maze's Can't Get Over You. Exceptionally well-arranged and recorded. Here And Now has that rhythm hype we know by Paul Hardcastle. Flute, keyboard and sax are in a fine mix. Winelight is not a cover of Grover Washington Jr.'s hit, but fosters in Konstantin's huge sound park. Take Your Time is a well-meaning advice and this song provides the musical accompaniment.

Kool&Klean Volume VI leaves a pleasant feeling of relaxation. Konstantin Klashtorni has developed like Paul Hardcastle a signature sound and the number of this recordings confirms that he is on the road to success.
