Kirk Whalum and Jonathan Butler at Vista Lounge

I had already attended Kirk's Gospel Hour on Sunday which was like a sacred event. Kirk left a deep impact on me. So I was curious as to what kind of music he would play on Thursday evening. Kirk performed this time tunes from his Smooth Jazz albums like "Do You Feel Me" from his album "Into My Soul" (2003).

A special highlight was the duet featuring Kirk Whalum and Kim Waters.

But I was mostly impressed by Kirk Whalum's brother Kevin, who is not only a scatter like Bobby McFerrin or Al Jarreau but the
ultimative stand-up comedian.

I know that he mixes idioms, performs jazz, gospel, urban contemporary ballads and groove tunes. I saw his live performance as living instrument but his harlequinade at this event was absolutely qualified for Las Vegas.
