Already in 2009 I reviewed the CD 'L.A. Days New York Nights' and in 2015 the album 'Love in Motion' by Canadian saxophonist Michael Massaro for another site.

Michael Massaro is a saxophonist, composer and producer from Toronto. Only now did I get my hands on his latest album, which dates from last year.

Michael delivers 13 original tracks here, and shows his beautiful smooth jazz sound. That can sound romantic like the beautiful opener 'Beautiful Day', or swinging like on 'Sassy Woman' and on 'Merry Go Round'. Michael wrote “if we can't go to the island, the island will come to us.”

You can hear that result on the exotic 'Island of Dreams'. 'New World' sounds somewhat romantic, full of expectation. At the end the “radio edit” comes along. The title track is a soft song, after which 'Playa Dorada' takes you to a southern beach. Then we fly to Morocco, to dive into the night there to the sounds of 'Moroccan Nights'.

'Treasure's Chest' sounds funky, with guitar, followed by 'Real Rio', which unfortunately I can't listen to. In Havana we drink a 'Cuba Libre' to the tones of salsa, and 'Get Down' accompanies you to the dance floor with some jazz rock.

A nice album, with a variety of smooth jazz sounds, with of course Michael's sax in the foreground.
