The Italian composer Germano Mazzocchetti is best known for his film and theater compositions, but also for his scores for operas, TV, etc. He is also active in jazz with this Germano Mazzocchetti Ensemble.

In that ensemble, Germano plays the fisarmonica (a kind of accordion), Francesco Marini (soprano sax, clarinet, bass clarinet), Paolo Emanuele (viola), Marco Acquarelli (guitar), Luca Pirozzi (double bass) and Valerio Vantaggio (drums).

He has already recorded 3 CDs with this ensemble, in which he mixes jazz with folkloric references. Germano composed 9 original tracks for this album, which dates back to 2021, with of course many references to his region of Abruzzo.

Just listen to 'La Giostra Della Monachella', a title that refers to a carousel. The other tracks all fit within that genre, and make me muse about a trip to Italy. 'La Danza Delle Barche a Colori' refers to dancing movements that create colored bars in the water, while 'La Tela Bianca' is more like a waltz. The title track, which closes, sounds a bit melancholy.

Not so much my thing.
