With sixteen albums, thirteen Grammy nominations and two Grammy awards to date, the group continues to evolve. “Yellowjackets represent the very best of the contemporary jazz scene,” says Dave Love, President of Heads Up International. “We’re very pleased to work with Russell, Jimmy, Bob and Marcus. They are all wonderfully gifted musicians, and as a group have a unique sound that fans love.” Yellowjackets are equally excited about their latest nomination. “We’re honored to be included for consideration,” says Grammy Award Winning big band arranger/saxophonist Bob Mintzer. “Our relationship with Heads Up has been a pivotal point in the band’s career. We love working with Heads Up and feel that it’s one of the best record companies out there.” Bassist Jimmy Haslip and keyboardist Russell Ferrante founded the band in 1979 and Mintzer joined the group a few years later. The current lineup also features drummer Marcus Baylor. Yellowjackets’s Time Squared was released on May 27, 2003.
