A journey into Smooth Acid Jazz

The Acid Jazz genre obviously develops many artists, we only get known by collections. After writing about so many artists one can state that U.K. is the motherland of Acid Jazz.

Another group I want to present from this area, is the Duboniks. Their albums are produced on the Delancy Street label. In August 1995 they released their debut album "Grip On Your Head." Duboniks are Paul Gunther (percussion and voice), Mikey Benn (keyboards, guitars and voice), Camelle Hinds (vocals), Lorna Brown (vocals) and Gary Spacey-Foote (sax and flute).

I found the Duboniks through Instinct Records, which released in 1998 "On The Vibe". The album isn't listed in their catalogue anymore. So try to catch the album, before it is sell-out. You can still buy it at Amazon.com, Wall*Mart and other cd-shops in the web. Instinct Records 's method is to collect 2 albums to one or rename the album. So is "On The Vibe" a selection of their previous album "Two Blind Mice"

Tracks:
1. Pushy
2. Nite N' Day
3. Fi Don Givit (Underground Mix)
4. Stuck In The Middle
5. Panic (If You Must Mix)
6. Bad Dogg
7. Drunk On Something (Bombay Mix)
8. Duboniks (Are We Comin' Thru?)
9. Pushy Juice Dub (Maximus B Remix)

My favorite is "Drunk On Something", a tune with a groovy rhythm and some unusual instruments. Not much information for such a good group. By the way if you like to meet the founder Paul Gunther in person, just attend the show "Stomp", where he is playing on the European and Asian tour, what he loves to play: the percussion!
