Madoca

 

MADOCA [ma du ka] is a pianist/ keyboardist/ songwriter/ music publisher (ASCAP) and recording artist. Her style consist of contemporary jazz, fusion, soul, pop and funk blend together to provide a good substance that will clean to your mind & soul.

She began studying piano/organ at the age of 7. She graduated at the Senzoku Music University Senior High School in Kawasaki Japan, her major in Composition and Piano. In 1982, she received the Yamaha Nemu Music School Scholarship in Tokyo, she studied jazz piano/ organ/ arrangement/ jazz ensemble and theory. Madoca got her first taste of show business in 1985 touring with Japanese national bands, she also  performed at NHK TV station in Tokyo/Osaka. In 1990 to 1993, sheperformed with several American Jazz/R&B bands in Tokyo/Yokohama/Kyoto.

In 1994, she moved to Hong Kong where she performed for numerous Chinese artists, such as PolyGram recording artist Jacky Chueng and many others (concerts/ world tours). Madoca was the winner in the 8th Song Writer's Quest, song title “I don’t cry any more”, organized by the Composer and Authors Society of Hong Kong in 1996.  She has worked with a variety of international recording artists, such as Eric Marienthal, Paul Young and All 4 One. When she performs, she’s so aggressive with passion. She plays with so much feeling in her music. “Music is my life” she says. Her image and objectives are classy & sexy.

In 1998, Madoca met Bass player/ Singer, Prince Redd when he was touring with Jason Bryant from S.O.S. band in Hong Kong, since the day they have been traveling all over the world, they have done Duo. Madoca decided to move to Atlanta Georgia to form her band ”MADOCA & Company”. Prince knew an excellent drummer Ken Brown, they offered him to join her band in 2001. In 2003, they started performing all around Atlanta area (Centennial Olympic Park, Crowe's Nest, Basil’s, Paradise city, Blue lights, Five spot, Chota falls etc.) and private events. Madoca & Company has performed in the Showcase of 2004 Atlantis Music Conference, they also opened up show for Chris Botti, Rick Braun, Jonathan Butler and Richard Elliott for the Michelob GOT JAZZ Series.  

"America is one of my favorite countries." she says, she has the musical performance ability and styling ranges from Herbie Hancock , Joe Sample to Chick Corea , yet uniquely her own. She has performed with numerous artists for last 20 years. Now it is the time for her to come up front as an artist. 

Her band members say that they have a common interest with her to expose and explore their musical abilities. Madoca has just released her new CD titled "Mysterious Ways" in August 2005.
