The album signals the arrival of an unmistakable new sound in Jazz music.

Brian Johnson Started playing a plethora of instruments at the tender age of 5 in central Massachusetts and eventually gained the knack for writing.  Through his tenure he has been trained on trumpet, drums, percussion, piano, baritone, bass, etc.  In addition to the school band and prestigious Jazz Band, through high school he was the director of music for the schools plays through all 4 years attended and performed the music live. At the age of 17 Brian was the keyboard player and songwriter for the “Steve Gunnard Band” and “Kruger”, a popular originals band in the north east. With a large following they sold out many venues.

After dabbling at the prestigious Berklee Collage of Music, he played in an originals band thought the area. In the mid 90’s focused on scoring for small projects and working as a studio musician. While following the classics of Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, Lionel Ritchie, and Toto, Brian focused mainly on ballads and pop sounds. Brian co-wrote and solo wrote many titles during this time.

It was not until early 2000’s that Brian found his unique jazz style while following The Rippingtons. Coincidentally becoming best friends with The Rippingtons’ Russ Freeman.  “Russ and I played golf together everyday for about 6 months and I became enthralled in his genius style of writing music while visiting at his studio in Boca” Said Brian.  In 2002 Brian performed David Foster’s piano concerto “Symphony Session” on piano at Las Vegas Rio Hotel and Casino with 3,000 people attending, and it was then he decided to change focus and start producing his own music. With a large corporate background in finance, management, and restructuring and while being a corporate executive, Brian put what time he could into writing until recently when he has made a total transition to the music industry.

With the shows of Brian’s amazing talent, “Mystic Cove” includes the best of the best musicians, talent like Russ Freeman, Tomey Sellars, Jeff Kashiwa, Eric Hansen, Sammy Figueroa, Matt Caldrein, Randy Bernsen, Marko Ruffolo and more all backing on the genius of Brian’s style.
