Provo and Gordon Uchima have combined their God-given talents to
cultivate a unique style of Contemporary Jazz.
The group Cole’lition
was founded by guitarist Michael Cole. Cole'lition
blends a wide range of musical styles, from gospel to funk, Brazilian to
jazz to deliver their unique sound.
Their debut CD, entitled “Celebration”, is smooth, warm and
up tempo with a textured edge. The band's second CD, “On the Move”,
is a further adventure into their unique sound.
The band is currently working on their third CD, “Not Yet Named”.
The new CD promises to be refreshing and innovative. Cole'lition
is no stranger to the Northwest jazz scene. This hometown favorite of
Seattle/Tacoma has developed a reputation for being virtuoso in their
musicianship and presentation. They have been esteemed as one of the
“Who’s Who” in the local jazz arena and have evolved to become one
of the Northwest's premier contemporary jazz groups. Cole'lition
has shared the stage with national recording artist Roy Ayers and Najee’.
Cole'lition also opened for national gospel recording artist BeBe and
CeCe Winans.
Cole'lition has shared equal billing with artists such as The
Whispers, Tony, Toni, Tone’, Freddie Jackson and the Ohio Players, to
name a few.
In 1999, Cole'lition was one of four artists who kicked off the
"1st Annual Smooth Jazz Seattle Style" concert. The other
artists were Darren Motamedy, Michael Powers and Deems Tsutakawa. For
two years, Cole'lition was the exclusive Jazz artist for the annual
“Festival at Sea” cruise to the Caribbean where they performed with
comedians Mark Curry and Tommy Davidson. Over
the years, Cole'lition has received recognition by various organizations.
In 1996, they were the recipient of the “People's Choice” award from
Seattle’s KNHC radio for “Best New Jazz Artist”.
In 1998, Cole'lition was nominated for a KUBE 93 radio
“Northwest Artist Award”. Cole'lition has also been a featured
artist on 98.9 KWJZ Smooth Jazz “Traditions and Trends” program.
You can also find Cole'lition on the "Rain City Jazz Compilation
CD" benefiting The Millionair's Club Charity. Cole'lition along
with several other NW Jazz Artist were privileged to be a part of the
worthwhile endeavor. This year Cole'lition was the special guest at the
NW Chapter of the National Recording Academy’s “Grammy in the
Streets". Cole'lition
has taken their Inspirational Smooth Jazz style to a variety of
venues--community festivals/events, concert series, restaurants, Jazz
clubs, malls, and churches. Currently, Cole'lition is playing at many
Northwest venues such as Salty’s, McGowan’s and The Offbeat as well
as corporate and seasonal events. Whether you are a connoisseur of Pop, R&B, Gospel or Contemporary Jazz, COLE'LITION tastefully satisfies the musical appetite.
