Tom Stinson

 

To say Tom Stinson has a passion for music is an understatement. Simply put, Tom is one of the top piano players around New York City. Spend some time with him and he will charm you, entertain you and amaze you with his talent at the keyboard. A great musician and a superb entertainer!

 

Tom attended the renowned Berklee College of Music '70-'73. He also toured and recorded with Esther Phillips in the mid 70's...more recently performed with Son Seals, Sam Taylor, Kenny Neal, Big Time Sara, Valerie Wellington, A.C. Reed, Little Buster, Jay Owens, and many local artists including Todd Wolfe, Peter Karp, Joe Taino, Swingadelic (a great swing bands with horns) Frankie Paris, Mercedes Moore, as well as his own Tom Stinson Jazz Trio.

Tom recently recorded a CD which features the trio Jeff Anderson on bass and Michael Lauren on drums. with special guests Cornelius Bumpus on tenor & flute, Joe Taino on guitar. (Cornelius has toured with the Doobie Brothers and last year with Steely Dan.)

The CD is a mixture of smooth jazz, contemporary jazz, several "latin" jazz tunes including "Oye Como Va", "Smooth Operator",...

The trio has performed at the Chelsea Piers for the last three years, and will perform at the free shows on Saturday & Sunday afternoons thru the summer from noon til 4PM (Trio dates are Sunday, June 24th, Saturday, July 28th Saturday, August 25th and Sunday, September 16th

Tom has been back in the studio again, this time with Swingadelic, playing keyboards for their upcoming second CD. The Tom Stinson trio will begin recording a second CD sometime later this year. Currently performing at ORO BLU, and at the DELTA GRILL (48th & 9th Ave NYC).
