Vince Rimbach

 

With his compelling release of Just One More Thing To Say, saxophonist Vince Rimbach comes to the musical forefront. A protégé of reedsmen Bill Evans, Jerry Bergonzi and Joseph Viola, Vince leads his quartet with a subtelty of tone and phrasing that only the finest interpreters can attain.

Just One More Thing To Say teams this talented saxophonist/composer with pianist/trombonist Mark Ferguson, Bassist John Geggie, drummer Charles Gay and co-producer Ross Murray. Global jazz writer Mark E. Peterson recently described this quartet as « a unit with telepathic intuition and unbridled adventurousness, held together by Vince's creative vision. » All of these endeavors bespeak the scope of this daring musician who acknowledges past influences in his jazz performance saying that « It is still a learining experience but everything's coming together… »

While in his fourth year as a High Honors/Dean List student at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Vince accepted a position as saxophonist for the S.S. Norway Orchestra. A former student of famed composer/arranger Herb Pomeroy, Vince honed his skills arranging and performing for such luminary artists as Eartha Kitt, Rita Moreno, Jim Nabors, Jerry Van Dyke, Philis Diller and Sid Caesar.

Beyond his work as a recording artist and arranger, Vince teaches privately in Ottawa as well as prepares students for the Royal. Conservatory in the areas of classical and jazz improvisation. It is his diversity and musical knowledge that has kept Vince in demand as a highly respected recording artist, arranger and teacher since 1985.

The Band

Mark Ferguson

A graduate of Ottawa University, plays piano and trombone on the CD. He is also a very talented composer and arranger. He has recently returned from a tour with Holly Cole where he played both trombone and piano. Mark keeps busy in Ottawa with writing and playing. He is co-leader of Los Gringos a 9 piece Latin band. He is also musical director and arranger for many singers and bands in Ottawa.


John Geggie

John is active in the Ottawa-Hull region as a free-lance double bass player and teacher. In addition to his work in the award -winning jazz quartet Chelsea Bridge' and the Juno-nominated world beat group 'The Angstones', he is much in-demand for recordings and concerts/broadcasts on both the CBC and Radio-Canada. For several years he has toured and recorded with many artists most notably Chelsea Bridge, Angstones and D.D. Jackson. John may be heard on the fourth recording by Chelsea Bridge, Bone Dance,which was released this past July on the Unity/Page label, and the latest CD by the Angstones, Bytown ... It's My Town, on Canal Records.


Charles Gay

A talented and in demand drummer . He is a member of the Michel Taillefer Group and Bianca Pittours, just to name a few. He has also performed with Kirk McDonald, Billy Robinson and on C.B.C radio.
