Juliana Oliveri

JULIANA arrived in New York in the 80's and studied acting, singing, and dance at Circle in the Square. Juliana performed with Interplay an improve group, and in cabarets, like The Duplex. Many of her vocal coaches played for the likes of Garland, Liza, Peggy Lee, and Tony Bennett. She memorized over a hundred songs, some of which were non-published songs thrown out of Garland's movies and she regarded this music, given to her by Charles Deforest as a real challenge. She began to play high-end gay nightclubs and sang with the pianists that would give her the "signature" style every vocalist needs: "the ability to forget yourself on stage and tell a story, make it real".

By 1990, Juliana's warm style and instinct for the lyric gave her a wonderful opportunity to sing with the top society orchestras like Peter Duchin, Lester Lanin, and Steven Scott in Manhattan. She decided that the American Popular songbook was her forte and looked to the resorts of Palm Beach and society work in New York, playing predominately with trio or quartets. Her talent has also taken her to LA, where she performed with Kei Agai, Miles Davis' Pianist, and Black Note. Some of her corporate clients include Merrill Lynch, Bear Stearns, Arizona Ice Tea, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Juliana holds a BFA from Florida State in Musical Theatre. She is currently working on a multi-language album for a potential release in Europe in 2001.

One of her favorite singers is Al Jarreau, and hopes to open for him one day.
