Born in 1947, Dennis McCorkle is regarded by the music industry as an
innovative and prolific force in the composition of contemporary jazz and
classical guitar literature, music methods and books. Published by Music
Sales, Music Minus One, Pocket Songs, Warner Bros. Publications, Vital
Body Marketing and Kimbo Educational, his works include over fifty
compositions and transcriptions for the jazz and classical guitar,
numerous works for voice, orchestra, concert band and various methods for
the guitar, musical theory and MIDI orchestration. Along with his
compositional and writing abilities, Mr. McCorkle has produced over two
hundred records, tapes, and compact discs for Music Minus One[TM]
(classical play-along), Pocket Songs[TM] (karaoke), various independent
labels and artists.
As a guitarist, he has studied with guitar masters Dennis Sandole, Frank Mullen and the late John Marlow. Audiences worldwide have enjoyed his music and performing in the New York city, Washington, D.C. and Atlantic City areas for over thirty years. McMillan Press recognized Dennis in 1989 as "one of the top five hundred 'New Age' musicians in the world..." More recently, he served as Executive Director and Producer for Music Minus One/Pocket Songs for over six years and is at present Assistant Director of Information Services for the (MTA) Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York City.
