Influences: Randy Rhoads, Neal Schon, Frank Gambale, Eric Johnson, Stanley Jordan, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Shawn Lane, Ed VanHalen... really too many great ones to list. Some famous, some not so famous. History: John started playing guitar at the ripe age of 16 (1986), growing up on a musical diet of Def Leppard, Queen, Ozzy Osbourne, etc. In 1990, after a mere 4 years of guitar, John began entering studios and playing regional shows with a band of much more mature musicians known as Ancestor (covers and original hard rock) . From the first time John set foot in a studio, engineers and musicians alike marveled at John's dexterity and speed on the guitar, for such a novice youngster. In 1991, John moved on to join Rage of Angels (complete "hair band"), to take on the role of lead guitarist/lead vocalist. ROA went on to record a 3 song demo, and based on the band's quickly growing reputation for highly exciting live shows, began to dominate opening slots for many national acts of the time, including Dangerous toys, Greg Howe, and Tony MacAlpine. Rage of Angels also gave John his first taste of radio airplay, on KZEW's local show. In 1992 John formed Screem Theater (Dokken meets Metallica style), in an attempt to dive further into the technical development of John's playing, yet keeping the exciting live performance that by this time, John was becoming known for. Screem Theater went on to record a 2 song demo, that garnered airplay on Z-Rock's "local show", to rave acclaim from the D.J.'s. After numerous lineup changes in the band, John found himself once again in the role of guitarist/lead vocalist. This would also become John's first 3 piece band, leaving him the only guitarist. In 1993 John was tapped to join a quickly rising band No Respect (Skid Row meets Motley Crue style), to add the flash, speed, and high vocal range John was by now known for. This band would be John's first taste of true local success, as the band had already gained a loyal & rabid following, top billing, weekend headlining status, top pay scale, and first call on countless opening slots for national acts of the time. These opening slots would include acts such as Trixter, Dangerous toys, Dirty looks, Ace Frehley, Pariah, Warrant, and Rhino Bucket, to name a few. No Respect recorded their 1994 CD "The American Dream" to great acclaim and sales that spanned literally the world over. In 1996, after the demise of No Respect, John went on into 6 months of lessons with local guitar Phnom Scott Sanford, to study scales, modes, and exercises, and turn John on to the world of Jazz and Fusion. Scott made John's head spin to say the least. During this time, John also co-founded the top40 band To Die For. To Die For (aka TDF)played a wide variety of material ranging from 80's retro like Duran Duran, The Fixx, and Flock of Seagulls, to 70's and 80's dance classics like the Commodores and Michael Jackson. TDF also toured a bit regionally, playing to large capacity crowds(in the thousands). This was a big growth period for John with versatility in material and lessons bouncing off every wall. In 1998, while still pursuing TDF, John took his first step into home recording and programming, and formed a project with former band mates called Seven day Trip (Stabbing Westward style). Seven day Trip recorded and distributed a 3 song demo around the DFW area, and received local critical acclaim. Seven day Trip recorded 7 tunes in all, and disbanded after an endless search for a drummer. 1999 - After the demise of To Die For, armed with a new lease on guitar playing and fresh breath of inspiration, John embarked on his first venture as "solo artist". John programmed and completely composed his first solo disc titled Modeous Eclectic. The album was yet another first step for John, into the world of progressive fusion instrumental guitar. This was a completely "grass roots" project, with no financial support from live shows, or any other outlet, leaving John to oversee literally every aspect of the disc from packaging to distribution. Modeous Eclectic has proven to be John's biggest success, for this reason alone. Modeous Eclectic can be found at every major online outlet, has received awesome critical acclaim and sales worldwide, was picked as a "Top 5 indie release of '99", and has boosted John's status to a new level all around. John's band, the John Inman Network quickly scored stellar opening slots and shared billing with the likes of Gary Hoey, and Dream Theater, all based on the band's acclaimed live sound and show. Not bad for 3 guys and a sequencer. 2000 found John writing and recording his sophmore solo release. This time, John was able to enlist the amazing playing skills of James Martin (Michael Harris, Chastain) on bass, Network drummer Mel Bittick, and local sax great Lee Schloss on sax. The new disc's release is still pending. 2000 also found John's former band No Respect being surprisingly picked up and signed, for a re-issue deal by the Metal Mayhem Music label. The recordings were released in February of 2001. 2001 - While on a break from recording the new full length solo release, interest and inspiration struck John's co-producer into releasing an EP of demos, alternate mixes, and a few brand new tracks. The EP, Fusion Cafe, will be released through mp3.com in August, 2001. John also utilized his home studio to record and produce demos for some friends' recording projects. Thus proving that John can not take a break. Fusion Cafe - the latest release from John Inman, available only through mp3.com. Fusion Cafe is a seven track e.p. featuring demos from John's 1999 release 'Modeous Eclectic', select tracks from John's forthcoming release as well as a few new and exclusive tracks for 2001. Mp3.com's D.A.M. cd's are somewhat interactive containing artist information, photos and individual song information as well as music. Go to mp3.com for samples and ordering information. The John Inman Netwerk - John is currently working with members of Dallas based Nervewerks to complete the second version of his live band. Rick Read: Bass, Chapman Stick; Ross Young: Percussion; and Mike Davison: Guitar, Guitar Synthesizer, are rehearsing with John for perspective upcoming live performances and might possibly make appearences on John's next cd release, which is scheduled for a January 2002 release.
