Eddie Fisher

 

Wantu Wazuri in Swahili means, beautiful people in the now world of jazz and jazz fusion. The name Eddie Fisher is fast becoming the Wantu Wazuri with the guitar.

Edward Thomas Fisher was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. His father who had a feeling for the blues guitar, got eddie involved in music at the age of ten. For seven years the keen young Fisher listened, planned ,absorbed and got it together. At the age of seventeen Eddie planned his escape from Little Rock. After graduating from high school he made his move. his first stop was Memphis Tennessee, where he studied with fine misicians and friends such as : Robert Tally, Isaac Hayes, Willie Mitchell. Andrew Love, Steve Croper and many others. In time the youthful Fisher was off again as band leader on national tours with Solomon Burke. After touring Fisher headed to St.Louis, Mo. as band leader for Albert King. Finally hearing the call to jazz in the wilderness he joined with Leo Gooden who owned the star- studded BLUE NOTE CLUB at 42nd Street where the musical elite would meet Oliver Nelson, Dave Sanborn, Jimmy Smith, Oliver Lake, w/ Miles Davis stopping to listen-see.

Eddie's first two albums THE THIRD CUP and THE NEXT ONE HUNDRED YEARS for CHESS-CADET RECORDS began his international career. Eddie later sign with ALL PLATINUM RECORDS where he recored his third album HOT LUNCH. Soon Eddie established his own record label NENTU RECORDS where he recorded his next two albums FISHER and THE PROMISE.

For all you jazz lovers, Eddie Fisher is back on the set with his new smooth jazz CD release "42nd Street" That's getting great reviews.


Eddie recently was in concert with some of the worlds jazz legends. Herbie Hancock, Wyane Shorter,Ahmad Jamal, Russell Gunn,and Hall of Fame Johnny Johnson. The concert was held in East St Louis, Ill. at THE MILES DAVIS ARTS FESTIVAL.

Eddie is taking this time to finish up some recording, and is collaborating with producer/owner Steven Davis and recording artist Baby Ray of STREETSMART RECORDS in Oakland California and a little closer to home will be working with producer/owner Willie Davis of Soundtap Recordings. Eddie along with C&E productions will be planning a tour that will wet your appetite for that fisher jazz sound.
