Janny Choi

Janny is very well known in her native Korea. She has released several albums on a major Korean Label with well over 100,000 units sold and still going strong. Her music is reminiscent of Keiko Matsui and David Koz, but she brings a fresh sense of rhythm that is a hallmark of her originality. Janny made the decision in elementary school that music would be her future.

In pursuit of that dream, she came to America as a high school student. She completed her undergraduate degree at The San Francisco Conservatory of Music and went on to obtain a masters in music from San Jose State University. Ongoing success in Korea has fueled Janny's busy schedule in the studio as well as performances to sold out crowds overseas. Janny is now poised to take on the rest of the world with her unique smooth jazz style.

Keep your eyes and ears open, you will be hearing about Janny in the future.

Pianist/Composer Janny Choi introduces a new CD that blends traditional oriental and classical musical influences with contemporary smooth jazz. This CD will reach out to not only the jazz lovers, but also classical listeners. This self-produced album includes Janny's nine compositions and one of J. S. Bach's well known pieces that is newly arranged by her.

Janny's background as a classical pianist and composer creates a rich traditional orchestration mixed with contemporary instrumentations. Sonically, you will find this CD very exciting while exploring her melodious and mysterious piano textures.

For the last five years she has been actively performing her own compositions, with ensembles ranging from a nine piece band to a full orchestra, while releasing CDs in many Asian countries. "Ecstasy" is her first release in the United States.
