Blue Train

Blue Train was originally formed in 1991 with sax player Chris Mason-Battley. They performed a mix of Jazz & Blues and started writing original material. After hooking up with drummer Jason Orme & bass player Matt Gruebner, they released a self-funded, self-titled album in 1992 and so gained a following.

Mid-'94 saw Parachute Productions start their own recording label & invite Blue Train to be one of the first bands on it.
With guitarist Robbie Karena & newcomer Steve Sherriff on sax, they produced "No Free Lunch" which won NZ Jazz Album of the year 1996.
Early '98 saw the release of "Never You Mind" which further refined their popular Jazz-Funk sound.

Another project that Alan got involved in in '97 was "Organic". This, again, was a self-funded, self-produced album in the Classic Jazz Organ trio style featuring Alan Brown on Hammond, Aaron Nevezie on guitar, and Jason Orme on drums. You can check some of this out on the music page, as well as mp3.com. Alan is a bit of a Hammond 'nut' so if you're interested there are some links to some of his favourite sites!

Blue Train are currently working on new material. To keep informed on their progress, you can join the mailing list below as well as listen to tracks from two of the albums here.
