Steve Barta

Pianist Steve Barta is a composer, author, producer and recording artist. Lending his talent to symphonic orchestras, jazz ensembles, and classically influenced solo piano, his original compositions reflect a great diversity of style. Steve is perhaps best known for fusing Classical, Jazz and Brazilian influences to create a signature sound that is distinctly BARTA.

Steve has shared the stage with Jazz greats Herbie Mann, Stan Getz, Ramsey Lewis and B.B. King.

Heritage Suite and A Midwest Dream are Steve's original symphonic works that he has performed with various symphony orchestras in the U.S. and Eastern Europe.

Steve's recordings are on the Source Music label, which he founded in 1989.

His book THE SOURCE (Hal Leonard Publishing), is used by musicians and educational systems worldwide. Now in its 10th printing, THE SOURCE has become the standard in the music industry. Transcription books for piano are available for Noel: A Musical Christmas Card, Christmas Around the World, That Christmas Feeling and Moments In Movement.

In 1991, Steve joined a distinguished list of concert pianists when he was recognized as a "Steinway Artist" by the venerable piano maker Steinway & Sons. As a Steinway Artist, Steve is provided with a Steinway grand piano on any concert stage in the world.

Steve, a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado, spends most of his time composing. He accepts a limited number of private commissions each year, ranging from solo piano to full symphonic works.
