Keith Andrew

 

 

 

Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Keith Andrew started playing guitar when he was 10 years old.   His passion led him to Los Angeles, where he had the opportunity to study with some of the world1s greatest jazz and contemporary guitarists; such as Robbin Ford, Joe Pass, Buzz Fieten, Scott Henderson and Joe Diorio.

 

While attending college in Los Angeles, Keith was a featured soloist with the Chaffey College Jazz Ensemble, earning several awards for outstanding musicianship from the National Association of Jazz Educators.  He later went on to attend the world-renowned Guitar Institute of Technology.  Graduating at the top of his class, he subsequently joined the faculty as a staff instructor.

 

Keith Andrew then teamed up with a group of talented individuals to form the jazz R&B band, Himalaya.  The Himalaya sound was defined by Keith's unique compositions, soon making it one of the most popular and dynamic groups on the L.A. circuit. 

 

Himalaya released their debut album Friend To Friend, which recieved national airplay.  Shortly therafter, Himalaya embarked on a nationwide promotional tour with notable appearances at the Santa Barbara Jazz Festival as well as major night clubs and venues in New York, Washington D.C., Memphis, Nashville, San Diego and Dallas.

 

Now residing in the San Francisco Bay Area, Keith has formed a new band, featuring some of the hottest musicians in the Bay Area. The current members of his new group have toured and recorded with such artists as Kitaro, Al Jarreau, Carlos Santana and George Benson.  This contemporary jazz group features Keith's latest compositions and is performing in local jazz venues around the Bay Area.

 

In addition to playing in his own band, Keith is also appearing with a very hot new group called "Peanut And The Apocalypse".  This group is led by a very gifted musican and composer by the name of Cecil Daniels (aka Peanut). In addition to playing the local SF music scene, they recently returned from a tour of Colorado.
