Lucas Pickford

I grew up in California and started playing the bass at 14. My father is my main inspiration. He is a tremendous composer, player, and arranger. I moved to Boston in 1988 to attend Berklee College of Music on a scholarship and graduated in 1991. I've had the good fortune to travel around the globe a bit and play with some great musicians along the way. Alex Acuna, Brian Blade, Johnny Vidocovich, Greg Tardy, Matt Garrison, Bob Moses and Steve Hunt are some of the musicians I’ve enjoyed playing with. I spent some time in New Orleans where my father lives but moved back to Boston in 1994 to attend graduate school. I received my Masters Degree from the Boston Conservatory of Music in 1996.

I live on the water in Salem, MA now with my wife, Kristin, also in residence are our two cats, Garth and Snafu. I’m involved in some adventurous musical projects with Steve Hunt, a trio of my own, some pop gigs, and doing a lot of freelance work. Right now I’m at work on a new CD. Check out my sounds page to listen to what I've done so far.
