Calvin Scott, jr.

Saxophonist Calvin Scott, Jr. was born in Montgomery, Alabama and at the age of 13

began performing in his father's blues band while still attending school and running the

football. "I didn't want to play the saxophone", Calvin said. Being a football

running back and linebacker, I thought playing a school band instrument was for

sissys. But GOD had other plans for Calvin, just 2 days before the big game opener he

broke his ankle and had to sit down for over 6 months. During that time Calvin had nothing

else to do but learn to play the saxophone. Shortly after high school in 1983, Calvin

moved to Atlanta, Georgia to attend college. He graduated from DeVry Institute of

Technology and has been working as a Computer Engineer to put food on the table.

Occassionally, he will gig with local bands in and around the Atlanta area. "My parents

always told me to have something to fall back on in case the music business doesn't

pan out", and as they say in show business the rest is history..... "The build to With You

has been an 18-month project," says Calvin. "I got tired of hearing smooth jazz stations

play 80's R&B and call it smooth jazz. So I decided to give them some fresh new

material to play.

The music of Calvin Scott, Jr. is based on a combination of jazz improvisation, r&b, funk,

and very smooth vocals to create a fresh unique blend which today is called smooth

jazz. Step into refreshing cool waters with the new CD from this Smooth Jazz saxman.

Recognized for his laid back and smooth style, many reviewers have described Calvin's

music as extremely "smooth" and full of "passion".

Debut CD "With You". The cd project isn't finished yet, so we'll have more details for

you as soon as we have them. It will likely be released in late July 00'. If you would like to
