TNT JAZZ BAND Their High-Energy Contemporary Jazz sound is in perfect tune with today's New Progressive Jazz and Vocals radio formats. Packed with intensity and complexity their smooth and expert performance, vocal, and composition skills are respected in all the jazz markets, (college, public, and commercial ). Sounds of passion and emotion, a multi-cultural product of the band's hometown of New Haven, CT. Formed in the 1980's the band has survived the ups and downs of today's frantic society with total dedication to their music, skills, and goals. With rare virtue, thought, and imagination these multi-faceted and experienced musicians have collaborated to create their own unique personal expression, original sound, and trademark in jazz music. A new diverse musical idea influenced by the past styles, forms, and rhythms of Jazz, R&B, Rock, and Latin, interwoven with today's emotion and technology. The key factor to the band's success is the excellent original compositions and songs in their repertoire and the sensitivity and precision these professional individuals execute them in the studio or in their exciting high-energy live show, where interaction and improvisation have an emphasis. Their music beliefs, insights, and material always maintains the highest integrity. Communicating and crossing over to a wider listening market and audience. Their last CD "Lifetones" on Tilt Records made a very successful mark on Jazz Radio Charts all over the USA and abroad with heavy airplay rotation. The band has been touring and performing at Jazz Festivals, Music Venues, Colleges, and Nightclubs in the USA, Europe, and Japan for many years now and since 1992, the TNT JAZZ BAND hasbeen on the New England Foundation for the Arts prestigious Performing Arts Roster with an Arts in Education program " A Century of Jazz ". Why do you call your sound High Energy Contemporary Jazz ? The music is intricate and exciting. The Quintet is masterful and precise. Mix in today's modern world emotions and technology and you get skilled professionals letting it loose and creating their own unique and trademark jazz sound. How do you classify your jazz sound ? The music is warm-toned yet very powerful inserting us into both today's commercial Smooth Jazz & Vocals and the more Progressive Jazz, College and Public Radio formats. Does the group have vocal ability ? Yes. we are blessed with great vocal ability. Almost everyone sings in the band. It helps us crossover and communicate to non jazz lovers. How long has the group been together ? The band was formed in the 1980's. Dean Kosh, drums joined in 1995. The only personal change since the band was created. Who are your influences ? The great pioneer artists of modal, funk, and fusion jazz. Artists as Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Pat Methany, Spyro Grya,..etc. But of course your straight ahead and be-bop artists as Monk, Charlie Parker, etc... will always have our interest and respect. How did your last CD " Lifetones " do ? It sold over 8000 units. We tracked over 300 stations with heavy rotation. A successful mark on trade Jazz Charts. Great trade reviews and press releases in the USA and Europe. What is the name of your new CD and what's it like ? It's called " Heavy Vibes ". A bit different than the last CD. It will be more modal and progressive, but with two vocal tunes to smooth it out. We are very excited about it and the response to the tunes on it in our live show are very impressive. Radio Programmers and DJ's should find it very pleasing. But still it will be High Energy Contemporary Jazz. |
