The Showtyme Jazz Duo The SHOWTYME JAZZ DUO is composed of Cliff deMarks and Lady Sei. They are one of the hottest and most sought after groups in Metro Atlanta. Cliff, AKA Showtyme, bills himself as a multi-instrumentalist, and that is no exaggeration. Using the latest in music performance software, he has brought music production out of the studio and sets it up in clubs, restaurants, hotel lounges, private parties or wherever the best in jazz music is needed. Cliff (Showtyme) is a dynamic piano player, sensitive reed man, drummer and thumping bassist, who has been performing for over 20 years. With his use of the latest music software, you'll wonder whether a trio, quartet, sextet, heptet, septet, nonet or big band showed up for your affair. You'll hear a bit of Boney James, Joe Sample, Kenny G, Alex Bugnon, Dave Koz, Bob James, Ellington, all of it filtered through Cliff's finely honed jazz sensibility. He has also released 2 self-produced CDs "Liquidity" and "Making Memories" recorded 1996 and 1998 respectively. A 3rd release is due early 2000. Lady Sei says that she has a schizophrenic personality musically, because she loves to sing it all - from swinging Ella to Crooning Sarah, Bluesy Billy, some Van Morrison, how about James Taylor, Sade, Anita, Whitney, Sting, Howling Wolf, John Lee Hooker - well, you get the idea! She takes all of these disparate styles and musical genres, applies her own jazzy spin and sings them with a voice like bittersweet chocolate swirled in double cream. Lady Sei's first CD is due early 2000. Put these two musically gifted individuals together and it's no wonder that they are so popular in their adopted hometown. They have (The Showtyme Jazz Duo) been together as a Duo for over 10 years and are regulars on the Borders Books and Music scene, in state, as well as out of state; have an affiliation with, and perform at Arts & Crafts shows. Spring 1999 they were featured artists at New York's 52nd Street Jazz Festival and at Sylvia's of Harlem. They perform at restaurants, coffee houses, trade shows and festivals around the country. Catch them when they are in town at either, Sylvia's of Atlanta or Killer Creek Chop House in Alpharetta. So, if you want to swing with the big band sound of Ellington, or chill out to the intimate sounds of a cool jazz trio, maybe you're in the mood for the latest in jazz fusion or jazz funk, or want jazzed up old school R&B classics, the versatile SHOWTYME SMOOTH JAZZ DUO can fill the bill.
