Keith Robinson

I was born in Mississippi one of seven children. Music was a household staple as long as I can remember. I began playing the guitar because I felt it was the one instrument with the versatility to allow me to fully express myself. Making music and playing music is my ultimate form of expression. It is my inside out, my spirit and my being.

In 1988 I was fortunate enough to go on tour with the very hot R&B artist Keith Sweat. During that '88-'89 tour season we shared the stage with such artists as L L Cool J, Salt-N-Peppa, Earth Wind & Fire, Johnny Gill and Babyface among others.

Playing with Earth Wind & Fire in 1994-95 was a blessing and one of my ultimate dreams come true. Everyone felt like brothers and sisters to me...like I grew up with everyone in the band.

From 1995-97 I worked with Patti Austin, one of my all time favorite female vocalists ever! I also toured with Taylor Dayne, Alex Bugnon, Mica Paris and Randy Crawford. Boy was that fun! I then went on the road with one of todays mega super-stars Vanessa Williams. What an incredible talent.

During that period I was fortunate enough to play guitar on George Howard's last solo CD. One of the funkiest soprano sax players ever. He will be sorely missed.

I grew up in an era when music wasn't being sampled but actually played by musicians...LIVE! Lot's of horn bands, great singers, lots of guitarists, bass players and keyboard players. This era is responsible for my musical foundation and I feel fortunate having experienced it all. This music will always be a part of my musical vocabulary.
