Patrick Lamb

Patrick is one of those extraordinary talents who combines raw talent with a singular ability to captivate an audience with his youthful charm, sincerity and pure magnetism. He is a saxophone player who walks the line between the tradition of jazz greats like John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins, and the R&B legends of the late 20th century...Junior Walker, Maceo Parker and David Sanborn.

Born in Jackson, Mississippi, Patrick was playing roadhouse music as a teenager in rural Mississippi when he heard the evocative sounds of Wayne Shorter and Stan Getz. He immersed himself in the music of the jazz greats and began study of this musical tradition that would take him far. In the eighties his father, a high school science teacher, took the family out to Portland, Oregon. Once there, Patrick's playing and singing were developing into a formidable one-two punch. He accepted the opportunity to perform and tour with Jazz Vocalist and GRP Recording Artist & Grammy-winner Dianne Schuur and did so for a period of time before meeting up with national recording artist, Jazz Pianist Tom Grant. He has recorded and toured worldwide with the Tom Grant band for the last few years.

Other recent recording projects include albums with Gino Vanelli, Tony Gable and John Raymond (percussionist and guitarist for Kenny G, respectively), and has an album out entitled "Home for the Holidays," recorded with Pianist Ed Bisquera. You can hear his work on CD projects from Alyssa Schwary, Norman Sylvester, and Tom Grant as well. Patrick's growing popularity as an accomplished performing artist, making him in hot demand all over the Pacific Northwest. Besides playing as a leader in club venues and personal appearances on local TV shows such as AM Northwest, he is also an entertainment regular for major pageants, corporate functions and events, and festivals throughout the

region. Patrick's good looks and charisma make him well-suited to speak and entertain on stage, radio, and TV. He recently was invited to perform at the White House during the holiday Congressional VIP Tours and was in attendance at a VIP Christmas Party, leading to a meeting with President Clinton.

Patrick has also demonstrated a deep sense of community awareness and civic responsibility. He recently hosted a show to raise consciousness about the loss of funding for the arts in public schools. In addition, he has been involved with a major civic effort to raise money for victims of the disastrous Northwest Floods of '96, for the American Cancer Society, and for Doernbecher Children's Hospital. One can't help but be moved by the huge heart of this young man as it comes though in his civic awareness...and in his warm saxophone playing and smooth singing. Patrick Lamb is truly a voice for the 21st Century!

Patrick has appeared in concert and at festivals with the following nationally and internationally known performing artists and at these fine events...

Patrick is a regular member of the Tom Grant Band, as well as saxophonist for GRP Recording Artist, Dianne Schuur on all of her west coast dates. Throughout his career, he has been able to perform with and open for artists such as Kenny G, George Benson, B.B. King, Branford Marsalis, Wynton Marsalis, and numerous other nationally/internationally known music stars.
