Max Groove
One of the pioneers of the smooth jazz style, Max Groove led the way throughout the late 70's and 80's in the development of this form of ambient jazz improvisation that has dominated the airwaves and captivated countless listeners. You'll remember the classic album "Midnight Rain", the highly acclaimed Billboard hit that set the standard and epitomized his style of that era, as well as many other fine efforts that elaborated his approach of that time.
Where is Max Groove taking us today with his music?
His new release "Max Groove - Solo" gently but firmly places Max again at the forefront of a new style that has already gethered a strong base of intrigued and delighted listeners. In this solo acoustic grand piano outing, Max Groove has combined the intimacyl passion and focus of the classical composer/artist, the ambient texture of the new age, and the sensitive, accessible, and moving melodies of the great eras of song writing, with innovative jazz structures. He has combined the strengths of the past to produce a new world of sound, melody, and emotion.
Now Max Grove has brought this new sound to the stage as well. Added to his acoustic grand piano, is the touch of the human hand on the drum skin in the person of Pete Cole, Kansas City's finest percussionist, playing the African Djembe. Max Berry, original guitar star of the acclaimed Max Groove Band, blends masterful acoustic guitar with the accomplished bass guitar work of Rick Yord to round out the sound.
True artists don't doggedly follow paths laid out for them--however lovely the scenery may be. They bravely cut new paths to reveal new wonders and new delights to themselves and their listeners. In this deeply personal approach to his music, Max Groove, the artist, has begun a new path for us to follow -- straight to the heart -- where the finest musical experiences are to be found.
Max Who? You remember. Follow him down this new path in his journey to find the soul of a new music. You'll be richly rewarded.
