Tim Cunningham

Smooth & sultry. Cool and definitely funky. These words best describe the hot new vibe of R&B Saxophonist Tim Cunningham. Tim was born and raised in Lansing, MI graduating from Everett High School and then went to Michigan State University on a football scholarship where he was a 4 year starter for the Spartans at strong safety. He received honorable mention All Big Ten in his

sophomore and senior seasons and was also given the Potsy Ross Scholar-Athlete award. He was offered a free agent contract from the Dallas Cowboys, but Tim opted to stay in school to get his education before venturing into the world of professional football. Playing the saxophone professionally for over 9 years, Tim has appeared in many Jazz Festivals around the country, and this year is returning to the Cincinnati Jazz Festival in July of 1999. This will be Tim's 6th year in a row on the festival and he has received rave reviews from the local media in Cincinnati. During a recent taping on BET's "Jazz Scene" Tim was able to promote his latest release on Atlantic Records, "Right Turn Only" which features the talents of Will Downing and pianist Bobby Lyle. Tim is no stranger to television having written and performed the theme song for the 1992 talk show, "The Bertice Berry Show", as well as 3 appearances on the syndicated TV series of the "Untouchables," and an earlier performance with Bobby Lyle on BET's "Jazz Central". Tim has also opened for Keith Sweat, Patti Labelle, Boys To Men, Jeffrey Osborne, Al Green, and a host of others. He also performed live at the Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas in September and October of 1998 and will be returning for 9 weeks at the Excalibur in 1999. Tim has been sponsored by the Coors Brewing Company for 4 years now and has performed several engagements for them including 2 Superbowl events in Miami, and Phoenix. Watch for a new album from him in the spring of 1999. There's just no topping his live performance so when ever Tim is in your area, you'll want to be sure to catch his show... You won't be disappointed.
