Ed Bisquera

Ed Bisquera, pianist, composer, arranger, and music producer, is a Pacific Northwest native, residing in the Vancouver, Washington/Portland, Oregon area. Formerly keyboardist for contemporary jazz acts like The Patrick Lamb Band and Peter White, Bisquera is now working as an emerging talent on the contemporary jazz music scene, specializing in composing and performing his own blend of contemporary instrumental music. His original compositions and interpretation of familiar jazz classics fuses the styles of jazz, pop, r&b, funk and new age, into his own signature sound.

Bisquera has worked cruise lines such as Princess and Holland America and has toured to Europe and Asia with various jazz and blues bands while living in New Orleans. Throughout his career he has performed onstage with artists as diverse as Ben Vereen, Barbi Benton, Carole King, Branford and Delfeayo Marsalis, Terence Blanchard, Victor Goines, Peter White, Dave Koz, Patrick Lamb, and many others. With over ten years experience as a professional pianist, his playing displays both finesse and sensitivity and as Willamette Week says, "...Bisquera displays both versatile playing and promise as a composer...an impressive debut!"

He has produced three albums locally to date. In 1996, he released "Home for the Holidays," produced along with Portland saxophonist, Patrick Lamb. The album features holiday favorites as well as two original compositions by Bisquera, one of which, "Lullaby for Jazmyne," receives regional air play from stations like Smooth Jazz 106.7 kkjz, and 102 KINK. In 1997, he released a solo piano album entitled "Piano by Heart," featuring 3 new originals and 7 cover songs. Both albums are currently for sale at local music and gift stores.

A new album has just been completed for release in October 1999, entitled "Window To The World," featuring 8 new originals and one cover song. The album features his full band ensemble of bass, drums, sax, guitar and percussion. The album will be available throughout area music stores and will be featured on stations such as 106.7 kkjz. Two CD release parties/concerts are planned for the months of October and November.

Bisquera continues to work locally as a composer and producer of music soundtracks for videos and multi-media projects and advertising jingles. He also continues to perform with his full band ensemble and is available for performances, private parties, receptions and corporate events.

You can catch him at Café Pacific every Thursday night, performing with his band of piano, bass, drums and guitar. Bisquera works with local community and school music groups and he is involved with many charity and civic groups, serving on the board for SWIFT, a local non-profit dedicated to serving the needs of Southwest Washington and working to further Vancouver's image by working on The Vancouver Wine & Jazz Festival.
